After races I would notice that my shoulders were sometimes sore. Not from the swim, but from holding my upper body up in position on the areobars during the bike. Examining the bike with my Dad, we noticed the seat was slightly tilted downward. This was the position of the seat from when we originally bought the bike. We rotated the seat angle so the top of the seat is now parallel to the ground (picture above). Looking at my bike split from HITS Naples 2016, I was 30 seconds faster from the last time I did the race in 2013. Plus, my shoulders were not sore following the event. Thanks to my Dad, my bike position feels much better! To fellow triathletes, I suggest taking a look at the top of your seat. If you feel like you exert effort in holding the aero position on a TT bike, perhaps rotating the seat upwards could help.
