Last weekend's race was my first event competing against the top pro's in the country....and they were impressive. This was also my first Lifetime Fitness event and it was well-organized with a great South Beach Miami venue. I wasn't sure what goals to have since there were so many top amateur Elites along with the Professionals but I thought I was well prepared.
Fortunately, the race went well and I was able to place 21st overall behind 18 Pros and two other amateur Elites. Achieving the third place amateur finish at this elite qualifying race meant I reached my #1 goal for this season....qualifying for my USAT Professional/Elite license. Will need to wait though until later in the year to get my card.....after the ITU World Championships in London in September. No time to rest....St. Anthonys race is in three weeks where South Beach winner, Ben Collins, along with Cameron Dye, Manny Huerta, Hunter Kemper, Matty Reed and others will again be waiting.
